The Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Fellowship is a three-year fellowship training program offered collaboratively through Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. Our program combines the strengths of a dedicated academic and research faculty, exposure to a wide range of patient diversity and complex clinical disease processes, and national improvement collaboratives. Fellows benefit from a supportive and award-winning hospital environment as well as a strong academic foundation. Orlando Health Arnold Palmer is recognized as a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report.

Our fellowship program offers the following:

  • Fully accredited by the Residency Review Committee of ACGME
  • Managed by the Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer
  • Guided by Fellowship Program Director Devendra Mehta, MD and Associate Program Director Khaled Bittar, MD
  • Active in the National Resident Match Program (NRMP) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) program

We place a strong emphasis on excellence in clinical care, teaching, quality improvement and productive and independent research with access to our own laboratory staffed with PhDs. We stress the importance of clinical pharmacology, pathophysiology, and biotechnology, as well as place a strong emphasis on the scientific basis of disease, evidence-based disease management, while refining your clinical judgment, teaching, and interpersonal skills. We emphasize the importance of a healthy work/life balance and periods of relaxation and fun, social activities abound! We work alongside other strong academic programs including general pediatrics residency, and fellowships in pediatric emergency medicine, primary care sports medicine, pediatric critical care medicine, and neonatology. Wherever your long-term interests lie you will be well prepared with a strong clinical AND research foundation. We are proud of our graduating fellows who have all successfully subspecialty boarded the first time, and gone on to Academic, Semi-academic and Private settings and remain in close touch as our greater family!
